Abstract:
This is an on-site practicum subject in the student's chosen area of specialisation, providing opportunities for the student to demonstrate self-sufficiency and independence as a beginning teacher.

Entry into the Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) / Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) course or as determined by the course coordinator.
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- have mastered the performance skills in teaching in the student's area of specialisation;
- have fulfilled personal objectives identified as a result of earlier practicums;
- have engaged in self- assessment of developing teaching skills and of their gradual induction into the profession;
- be able to assume, through demonstration of self-sufficiency and independence, the role of the beginning teacher with an orientation toward the role of school counsellors.
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Communication skills.
- Personal qualities of teachers developing a personal and reflective approach towards the profession of teaching.
- Professional qualities of teachers developing a personal and reflective approach towards the profession of teaching.
- Lesson / experience planning and preparation.
- Teaching and management.
- Assessment and evaluation of learning and teaching.
