Abstract:
This subject introduces the concepts of learning through facilitation. It introduces the learners to ways of observing, reflecting upon and analysing learning in various workplace contexts. This subject is a practicum subject but with a difference: the objective of the practicum is to investigate learning environments characterised by high performance facilitation and to use the ideas collected through observation, interview and other investgative techniques to reflect on ways in which you could improve on your own practice as a facilitator of learning.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA401 04 or TAE401 10)
Enrolment restrictions:
This subject is not available to students who have previously completed EMC408 or EPT304 or EPT440 .
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- Identify situations where VET courses are being delivered in innovative and flexible ways
- Analyse flexible delivery solutions in so far as:
- - the planning, implementation and evaluation of facilitatioin methods
- - the strategies used to accommodate needs of different groups of learners and teaching situations
- - the use of effective communication using a variety of techniques
- - the adaptation of teaching methods to suit non-classroom contexts
- - the factors that impact on learners in terms of the social and economic/political context
- Identify areas for innovation within their teaching and training
- Plan an innovative program which implements the ideas contained in their investigations and subject materials

This subject contains a Compulsory Workplace Learning component of 6 days duration.
There are 50 hours of practicum investigating high level facilitation in Adult and Vocational Education delivery through interview, observation and reflection.
