Abstract:
Pre-service teachers will work for a minimum of 30 days in a primary and secondary school setting. During this placement pre-service teachers will be undertake fifteen (15) days of professional experience in a primary school setting, and fifteen (15) days in a secondary school setting. Pre-service teachers, will in collaboration with their associate teachers, plan delivery and assess a variety of curriculum areas as appropriate. This experience will provide pre-service teachers with an opportunity to reflect on the work of primary and secondary-school educators. This experience will contribute to the students' professional development as a teacher.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- Successfully undertake the role of a classroom teacher;
- Demonstrate the use of resources in primary and secondary school settings;
- Demonstrate current models of teaching and learning for a range of learners across a range of stages;
- Demonstrate appropriate teaching skills and strategies for teaching diverse learners;
- Utilise models drawn from primary curriculum frameworks for lesson planning;
- Use information and communication technologies as a resource for teaching and learning; and,
- Utilise assessment and reporting procedures appropriate to the context.
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Fifteen day placement in a primary school - Fifteen day placement in a secondary school - Critical self-reflection and ongoing professional development.
