Abstract:
This subject will enable students as preservice teachers to integrate their knowledge and skills as emerging professionals by successfully completing a final supported 25 day professional experience program in a school setting. Students will explore practical means of integrating curriculum through effective design, implementation, assessment, evaluation and reflection on pedagogical practices. Students are required as preservice teachers to actively and professionally engage with the broad school community, and are encouraged to undertake a placement in a rural community.

Enrolment restrictions:
Entry into the Bachelor of Education (Primary) and the Bachelor of Education (Primary) (Honours) programs or as determined by the course coordinator.
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- identify objectives from previous professional experience programs as a focus in this placement;
- demonstrate skills in planning, implementing, assessing and evaluating an integrated series of learning experiences in a K-6 context employing a range of pedagogical strategies and using the Quality Teaching assessment Practice Guide as a reflective tool;
- justify their pedagogical decisions in light of their understanding of quality teaching, diverse learners and rural contexts;
- demonstrate their ability to incorporate ICT and multiliteracies in the planning of a sequence of integrated lessons;
- demonstrate effective interpersonal engagement with professional stakeholders.
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Review personal and professional attributes required of quality teachers
- Negotiation and communication skills
- Whole school and multi-age programming
- Role of critical reflection in improving learning and teaching
- Assessing, reporting and recording student learning.

This subject contains a Compulsory Workplace Learning component of 25 days duration.
