Abstract:
The aim of this subject is to provide underpinning skills and knowledge to enable students to evaluate and critically apply research into their professional practice. The subject introduces students to the purpose, design and outcomes of practitioner research. Students analyse a recent relevant research report and develop strategies to implement this research into their practice.

Enrolment restrictions:
The subject is not available to students who have completed EMC202 or EMC320 or HRM210 .
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to articulate the role of adult and vocational education research relevant to their own professional setting
- be able to identify the skills and knowledge associated with workbased research
- be able to identify and analyse the process of conducting effective workbased research, including the selection and use of appropriate research methodologies and tools
- Be able to identify and analyse the process of conducting an effective literature review
- be able to articulate the principles that guide and underpin ethical research
- be abel to identify and analyse issues of professional ethics relevant to research in the adult and vocational education field
