CSU Discipline Area: Design and Visual Production (DSVIS)

Abstract:
This subject will look at the range of professional illustration and visualisation as a way of building a portfolio of commercially viable illustrations and images. The student will explore architectural and advertising visualisations (eg storyboards) in markers and other quicker techniques as well as cartoons, comic art and caricatures. The subject will also cover illustrative techniques within diagrammatic presentations.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to demonstrate an understanding of cartooning, comic art and caricatures
- be able to use their skills in design and illustration to produce visually appealing diagrammatical messages
- be able to choose and apply visualisation techniques to a variety of applications
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- caricatures and comic illustration - graphic message making - illustration for graphic design & advertising - incorporating work into the students graphic design subjects with commercially orientated outcomes
