Abstract:
This subject examines the curriculum development process in relation to pre-service health disciplines and patient teaching. This subject recognises the needs felt by clinicians for better ways of describing, explaining and justifying what goes on in educational programs. It will help them to understand the relationship between praxis and curriculum. Planning and facilitating both formal and informal learning opportunities will also be covered.

Analyse how clinical experiences can be organised for effective learning.

Articulate how knowledge, culture, social and political values influence health education planning.
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
What is the curriculum? The emergence of curriculum research and development in the health sciences. Alternative models of curriculum. Curriculum content in a health discipline context. Theory versus practice; the integration of knowledge and skills. Influences and constraints on education programs. The dissemination of technology and innovation in clinical education. Accountability
