Abstract:
This subject aims to provide students with the opportunity to study contemporary issues in health within their field of practice and area of specialisation, in order to more deeply understand the influences which impact on health service delivery, the context of practice and the scope of health professionals' practice.

Enrolment restrictions:
Restricted to students enrolled in the M App Sc (Medical Imaging) and the Master of Nursing or at the discretion of the Course Co-ordinator
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
* identify and discuss the contemporary issues which affect professional practice;
* demonstrate critical skills in analysing literature concerned with contemporary health issues;
* utilise research skills to source and use information to broaden and deepen understanding of issues which impact on professional practice and service delivery.
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
The subject is made up of six topics and uses supporting readings. The six topics are: 1. Introduction to issues in health 2. The reflective practitioner 3. Professionalism 4. Ethics in health 5. Extended role 6. Other clinical issues in health care.
