Abstract:
This subject adopts a comparative approach to understanding international human resource management by examining challenges, drivers and strategic issues while sustaining the culture of a dynamic global network. The role of HR functions in multinational organisations, such as managing human resources in cross-border network structures; global legal regulations; identification, preparation and relocation of talent; career management; turnover and employer branding, etc, will be examined.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to critically analyse international business activity in the context of current and emerging international HRM theory;
- be able to explain the complexity of cross-cultural differences with respect to the integration of international business activity and international human resource management practice;
- be able to reflect, contrast and critically evaluate the differences and similarities in human resource management practices among different cultures;
- be able to examine and justify criteria for selecting, preparing, managing and repatriating international managers;
- be able to compare and contrast approaches to international human resource management practice; and
- be able to critically discuss emerging issues in international business and their human resource management implications.
