Abstract:

This subject examines human resource development from a cross-border perspective and identifies the changing role of the human resource development practitioner. It considers the affect on the workplace of globalisation and culture, and highlights the strategic importance of human resource development in the competitive global business environment. Assumed knowledge for this subject is equivalent to that covered in HRM502.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- be able to describe key concepts relating to the formulation and implementation of corporate strategies associated with the development of key cross-border business staff
- be able to explain the contribution of HRD to cross-border corporate strategies
- be able to explain the importance of integration and differentiation in the design of International HRD programs
- be able to identify the contribution of learning and skill acquisition from different cultural contexts in the design of International HRD programs
- be able to identify key aspects and stages in International HRD programs
- be able to identify key issues and challenges in the process of future International HRD activity
