Abstract:
This subject covers the principles and practices involved in the successful establishment of plant assemblages for amenity purposes. General principles and the range of practices involved in a diversity of environmental circumstances are studied. Processes and technologies that are used to manage plants and plant assemblages in urban landscapes are also covered.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- Interpret construction specifications (written and graphic) for landscape works.
- undertake plant species selection and assess the quality of plant stock.
- formulate site preparation and planting techniques to facilitate plant establishment and growth in a range of situations.
- understand the scope and techniques involved in the management of different urban landscapes
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Landscape works documentation - Plant species selection and stock quality considerations - Site preparation and planting operations - Urban landscape management principles and techniques
Residential School
This subject contains a compulsory 3 day residential school.
Purpose: 1) To familiarise students with the equipment, processes and practice of plant establishment in a range of commercial and domestic situations 2) To develop student skills in the practice of plant establishment and management Activities: Practical exercises, tutorials, demonstrations and field trips to clarify and expand on the subject matter presented in the subject's Mail Package.
