Abstract:
This subject prepares students to develop and improve health, aged, paramedicine and other health related services. Students will develop an understanding of a variety of methods for identifying community need, and how to use demographic, performance and health status data. A key focus is on being able to translate ideas into tangible improvements through an understanding of change and project management.

Available only to postgraduate students in aged care, pre-hospital care and health management related courses
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to apply a stakeholder consultation framework to inform health, aged care or prehospital care service development.
- be able to demonstrate an ability to access, represent and analyse basic demographic, performance, health and service data to inform the introduction of a significant change to a health, aged care or prehospital care service
- be able to demonstrate an ability to apply a public health or population based perspective to the introduction of a significant change to a health, aged care or prehospital care service.
- be able to formulate a project plan that incudes a communication strategy to guide a service development project.
- be able to develop and critically analyse strategies related to service development by drawing on change management and leadership theories.
