Abstract:
This subject provides an introduction to the practice of applied history. Students will have the opportunity to apply their historical knowledge and research skills by working on a research project at an archives or library using primary and secondary sources.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to demonstrate an understanding of the practice and place of applied history
- have developed the ability to plan an applied history project
- be able to demonstrate the ability to undertake an applied history project
- have broadened their knowledge and compentencies in practicing history
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Introduction to applied history - Review of primary and secondary sources - Review of historical methodology - Introduction to archives and records - Research proposal - Literature review - Applied history project (individual project under supervision of lecturer)
