Abstract:
This subject is designed to provide students with the opportunity to study in depth a topic in the field of information studies which is of particular interest to them. Students select a specific area which requires both broad understanding and in depth analysis, and use this to prepare a detailed literature review.

Enrolment restrictions:
Only available to students enrolled in the Applied Research specialisation of the Master of Information Studies
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- identify an appropriate topic for a literature review;
- articulate a specific purpose and a clear set of objectives to guide the writing of their literature review; and
- select, evaluate and synthesise appropriate literature for their chosen topic area and develop this into a review which explores the issues in depth and with balance.

- Preparing an integrative literature review - Steps in writing a literature review - Reading and evaluating research - Format and referencing
