This subject is designed to equip students with the skills and understanding to effectively manage projects in the information industry. It takes an applied approach to project management theory and practice and its role for information professionals.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to describe the practices required for effective management of projects in information agencies;
- demonstrate an understanding of the issues of working in a collaborative environment;
- be able to apply appropriate methods of solving problems;
- demonstrate an understanding of factors influencing project design and implementation; and
- be able to effectively prioritise tasks within pre-set timelines.

- Principles of project management - Defining a project - Project organisation - Project planning techniques - Project implementation - Project monitoring and evaluation - Project management support systems
