Abstract:
This subject explains the importance of web usability in the design and development of a website. It explores user behaviour, user needs, information use, website information content, design factors and user issues to be considered when undertaking a web project.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- demonstrate familiarity with a range of web evaluation methods;
- be able to facilitate access, information retrieval and information delivery on the web;
- be able to evaluate different aspects of web interface design; and
- be able to select web features that will increase website usability in terms of user-friendliness, effective information retrieval and effective information delivery.
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Introduction to web usability - Factors to consider in web design - people, information and processes - Evaluating web usability - Organisational mission, objectives and users - User needs analysis within an organisational context - Relationship between web information usability, web design and development
