Abstract:
This subject discusses the importance of information in decision-making and ways in which information professionals can enhance the value of information. It introduces a range of information access sources including library portals and subject databases. In seeking information, students are expected to go beyond traditional sources, such as libraries and the internet. Students develop their own feasibility topics for investigation and present a value-added report relating to their findings.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to assimilate and synthesise identified information in a specific area and produce a value-added report;
- demonstrate that they understand the process of value-adding to information;
- have detailed knowledge of the provision of information services in designated discipline areas; and
- have knowledge of specific online and other information sources in designated subject areas.
