Abstract:
This subject locates the Australian employment relations system within contemporary economic and political contexts and debates. Amidst the tensions and challenges of globalisation, the subject examines the perspectives of major stakeholder groups relating to the purpose, design and outcomes of the Australian employment relations system.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- analyse contemporary issues and debates in Australian employment relations, in the context of global economic developments;
- critically evaluate stakeholder perspectives relating to the purpose, design, and outcomes of the Australian employment relations system;
- reflect on the contribution of the Australian employment relations system to business and economic sustainability; and
- synthesise and critically evaluate academic literature, and apply scholarly methods to address real-world problems.
