Abstract:

This subject provides the student with the knowledge and skills to comply with relevant insurance legislation to carry out operational procedures in distributing and servicing insurance products.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- be able to comply with operational aspects of laws pertaining to insurance
- be able to explain changes to and implications of laws
- be able to comply with agency / broker agreements and professional indemnity obligations
- be able to maintain statutory records

Syllabus:

The subject will cover the following topics:

Knowledge of relevant laws
Application of relevant laws in the workplace
Procedural requirements relating to operational aspects of law
Handling client queries and requests
Agency agreements and broker agreements
Professional indemnity insurance
Concept and application of duty of utmost good faith and duty of care
Consumers' rights
Tax and other business records
