Abstract:
This subject will introduce the student to being a competent user of the Internet. The subject is very practical and covers areas such as basic authoring techniques, general World Wide Web protocols, effective searching techniques for the Internet, strategies to store information, remote processing, multimedia and social issues.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
be able to apply different web authoring techniques to real life situations;
be able to effectively navigate the Net using the various search features;
be able to identify the main issues associated with copyright, ethics and security as they relate to the Internet;
be able to differentiate the different communication protocols;
be able to apply the different network protocols;
be able to use a variety of online multimedia applications;
be able to create network publishing resources;
be able to conduct remote processing sessions;

Residential School
This subject contains a optional 1 day residential school.
The residential school is primarily aimed at providing assistance to students who have little or no programming / authoring experience. A hands-on workshop will be conducted along with students being taught how to effectively search as well as how to transfer files across the Internet.
