Abstract:

This subject is designed to provide students with experience in current and emerging networking technology. The subject provides students with the skills and practice needed to design, build and maintain small to medium sized networks. Students will also develop their skills in investigating, analysing and implementing emerging advanced networking technologies. Concepts covered in this subject include: Switching, VLANs, STP, VTP, WAN technologies, VPN, IPv6, IP multicast and Peer to Peer networking protocols.

The subject will cover the following topics:

Residential School

This subject contains a compulsory 4 day residential school.

There are two compulsory residential schools in this subject. One is held during the teaching break (2 days) and another is held in the end of session (2 days).

Purpose:
The inclusion of the Cisco Networking Academy Program requires all students to undertake practical based assessment activities conducted in a networking laboratory.
