Abstract:

This subject will develop and apply graphics techniques in the visualisation of scientific problems as well as investigating the use of computers in the field of Virtual Reality. The use of colour, animation, multimedia and advanced rendering techniques will be presented.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

* be able to understand a broad range of visualisation techniques;
* be able to develop programs that display changes of real world
models in a realistic manner;
* understand various theories of human/computer interaction
models.

Syllabus:

The subject will cover the following topics:

* Achromatic and coloured light. * Visual realism, depth cueing, texture and rendering, visible surface determination. * Illumination and shading. * Animation. * Visual realism environments and applications of visual realism. * Ethical issues in visual realism applications and development. * Human computer interaction and computer/user interface design.
