Abstract:
Issues of systems development and implementation are studied in the context of a real project from the students' environment.

Available to Graduate Diploma of Applied Science (Information Technology) Students only.
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- produce an analysis, architecture and design specifications for a project from his/her own environment;
- organize appropriate methods of systems development, testing and implementation;
- describe how to develop a project plan, lead, control and review a project; and
- carry out and report on the development and implementation of the system.
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Review of the Systems Development process: Requirements, Specification, Systems Architecture, Systems Analysis, Architecture, Evaluation and Design with an emphasis on Systems Evaluation: - Systems Implementation; - Systems and acceptance testing; - Effective conversion, training and installation; and - Review and Maintenance. - Project Management (Managerial control over the development process): - Management responsibilities, planning, monitoring, review; - Project management tools; - estimating techniques; and - project management software.
