Abstract:

This subject extends students’ knowledge and skills in making use of the current technologies used in developing business applications, e-commerce, and mobile applications. Students are introduced to contemporary topics and infrastructure for developers of business and enterprise applications. The subject provides a framework for students to explore Web-based or mobile business and enterprise applications development and to be aware of the issues and procedures. It also provides for use of flexible project work, role-play and seminars (as web or mobile application developers and managers of business solutions). Such project-based learning, role-play, and seminar presentations enable students to put their new knowledge and skills into action.

Not available to students who have completed ITC382 or ITC565 .

Available only to students enrolled in the Master of Information Technology, Master of Business, Master of Business Administration and Graduate Certificate in Commerce.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

be able to describe, compare and use the core technologies that underpin e-commerce applications for business;
be able to evaluate and describe business processes using business process modelling techniques;
be able to identify and discuss the networking and operating requirements for e-commerce applications;
be able to discuss issues and trends related to overall e-systems infrastructure design and management;
be able to compare and evaluate the suitability and performance of various development platforms and e-commerce models;
be able to use the acquired knowledge and skills to design and maintain business applications;
be able to use technical and non-technical language in all oral and written communication and documentation;
