ITC711 Research Issues in IT (16)

Abstract:

This subject allows students to develop research skills that are necessary to identify a research problem in the computing discipline. The subject will cover areas such as critical reading skills, literature review, selecting and evaluating a variety of sources of information, academic writing, identifying a computing research problem, addressing ethical issues, writing a research proposal, and formulating a hypothesis. Furthermore, various research approaches, methods and techniques in the computing discipline will be examined.  By the end of the subject students should be able to identify a research problem in a computing discipline, conduct a literature review and develop a research plan.  As part of the research plan, the students will be expected to identify a publication outlet such as a journal or conference and provide the publication template. A research project will be commenced in this subject and completed in ITC712.
