This subject gives students the skills required to develop applications using ASP.NET

Enrolment restrictions:

Available only to students in the Master of Systems Development, Graduate Certificate in Systems Development, Graduate Certificate in Account Management and Master of Management (IT).

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- be able to configure providers;
- be able to configure authentication, authorization, and impersonation;
- be able to configure projects, solutions, and reference assemblies;
- be able to configure session state by using Microsoft SQL Server, State Server, or InProc;
- be able to publish Web applications;
- be able to configure application pools;
- - be able to compile an application by using Visual Studio or command-line tools;
- be able to implement client-side validation and server-side validation.
- be able to read and write XML data;
- be able to manipulate data by using DataSet and DataReader objects;
- be able to call a Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) service or a Web service from an ASP.NET Web page;
- be able to bind controls to data by using data binding syntax;
- be able to configure debugging;
- be able to implement tracing of a Web application;
- be able to implement Web Forms by using ASP.NET AJAX;
- be able to customize the layout and appearance of a Web page;
- be able to implement globalization and accessibility;
- be able to implement business objects and utility classes;
- be able to implement session state, view state, control state, cookies, cache, or application state.
- be able to handle events and control page flow.
