Abstract:

This subject provides students with knowledge and skills in user interface navigation, wizard usage, and writing code in the appropriate languages such as Transact-SQL and the Common Language Runtime (CLR). Also covered are issues relating to code debugging or syntactic issue resolution, troubleshooting, and accomplishing specific focused tasks through the use of code.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

be able to configure SQL Server security and linked servers by using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
be able to implement High Availability and Disaster Recovery.
be able to import and export data from a file.
be able to initialize a secondary database.
be able to identify the specific structure needed by a consumer.
be able to manage databases by using Transact-SQL.
be able to diagnose and resolve database server errors.

Syllabus:

The subject will cover the following topics:

Installing and Configuring SQL Server 2005. Configure SQL Server 2005 instances and databases. Configure log files and data files and the SQL Server DatabaseMail subsystem for an instance. Choosing a recovery model for the database. Configure server security principals, database securables and encryption. Handling exceptions and errors. Converting between XML data and relational data. Creating an XML index. Implementing and securing an HTTP endpoint. Creating queues and contracts. Maintaining Databases. Implementing and maintaining SQL Server Agent jobs. Restoring a database. Creating and Implementing Database Objects. Assigning permissions to a role for tables. Specifying a partition scheme when creating a table.
