Abstract:

The subject is designed to promote best practice in fraud, financial crime, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing investigation, compliance and management in the private and public sectors. The subject  provides the foundations for the study of the subject in the postgraduate programs. Students will examine specific financial crime offences and the skills required for a successful investigation, prevention and managment.

The subject will cover the following topics:

Residential School

This subject contains a compulsory 5 day residential school.

The syllabus modules will be crystallized and analyzed in detail at a 5 day residential school. During the residential school, students will have exposure to leading industry and public sector practitioners drawn from a variety of organizations that will present Financial Crime case studies and be available for in depth discussion with students regarding their topics.

The purpose of the residential school is to meet and promote best practice in finacnial crime investigation and managmetn and anti-money laundering/counter terrorist financing compliance and managment in the [proivte and public sectors. The residenital school will provide a strong foundation in this subject for students undertaking postgraduate programs.

If a student is unable to attend the residenital school then the student may apply to the Subject Co-ordinator to submit an additional written assignment for assessment.
