Abstract:
This subject examines central texts of English literature from the Augustan era (exemplified by Pope, Swift, Gay and Johnson) to the Romantic era (exemplified by Blake, Wordsworth, Mary Shelley and Keats).

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to demonstrate an accurate, critical and literary-historical understanding of eighteenth-century and early nineteenth-century English literature
- be able to demonstrate developed practical critical skills and literary-critical essay-writing skills
