Abstract:
Develops the participant's skills in identifying new directions and improvements for their work units, and initiating and managing the changes needed for continuing success and survival. Topics include identifying strategic directions for the work unit, developing shared goals, improving customer focus and responsiveness to change, and continuous improvement in a learning organisation context.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
Be able to apply techniques for the development and implementation of organizational strategy; Establish strategies for determining the appropriate structures, systems and mechanisms to effectively monitor, interpret evaluate and respond to pertinent aspects of the organisation's internal and external clients;
Be able to identify the relationship between change and innovation and determine how innovative opportunities for an organisation can be identified;
Be able to identify the impact of change and obstacles to change and evaluate and recommend processes for change;
Be able to establish strategies for developing and maintaining a change responsive organisational culture committed to continuous improvement;
Be able to develop client focused organisational units to continuously and routinely monitor and address clients, products and service requirements;
Be able to monitor, maintain and improve effective delivery of product output and service delivery

The subject is split into six interlocking themes of 7 hours face to face duration. Though each theme is a discrete learning area there are inter relationships between the various learning areas.
