Abstract:
Develops the participant's skills in managing effective working relationships with others, including their team, to achieve optimum performance from their work unit. Other topics include developing selection, development, reward and employment relations practices which are aligned with the desired organisational culture and direction, and managing the ethical issues which today's managers face.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
Be able to identify organisational issues with ethical and social responsibility dimensions and manage professionally in accordance with professional, industrial, organisational and personal codes of conduct; Be able to develop strategies that allow the manager to establish and maintain the trust and support of subordinates, subordinates, peers, colleagues and clients; Be able to recruit, select, develop and maintain an optimum sized and skilled work force; Be able to select, develop and lead formal and informal teams to effectively accomplish goals; Be able to establish individual and team performance requirements, monitor performance and provide feedback and support; Be able to maintain and improve levels through effective employee relations strategies.

Though each theme is a discrete learning area, there are inter relationships between the various learning areas.
