Abstract:

Sustainable management can be described as an approach to management that focuses on the long-term viability and continuity of the organisation being managed. Because this depends to a large degree on how managers respond to the changing environment, organisational change provides the theoretical base for the study of the subject. Within this framework, strategies to ensure an organisation is managed sustainably are investigated. Assumed knowledge for this subject is equivalent to that covered in MGT501.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- be able to explain and evaluate the usefulness of the concept of sustainable management
- be able to evaluate the effectiveness of organisational change as a theoretical base for the subject
- be able to compare and contrast a range of models of sustainable management
- be able to analyse the phases through which organisations need to progress to achieve sustainability
- be able to explain in detail how organisations can develop corporate strategy, organisational culture and leadership to ensure sustainable management.

          Corporate compliance for sustainable management

          Organisational efficiency for sustainable management

          Corporate strategy and sustainable management

          Organisational culture and sustainable management
