Abstract:
This subject focuses on diseases specifically encountered in medical imaging departments. It is designed to provide a basic working knowledge of these diseases in order to enhance student ability to produce diagnostic images and to become more knowledgeable members of the diagnostic team.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
be able to describe the diseases associated with the body systems, listed below, under the following headings:
- disease aetiology, mechanics and clinical manifestations;
- pathological tests used to identify and evaluate the disorders;
- current methods of treatment;
- specific imaging modalities and examinations used in diagnosis and evaluation; and
- variation in imaging technique needed for patients with specific conditions, including any special patient handling requirements. be able to recognise and correlate pathological conditions with the normal anatomical appearances displayed by the various diagnostic imaging modalities.
