Abstract:
This subject examines the conceptual, logistic, financial, and communicative aspects of managing production and marketing for a range of entertainment, communication, and information industries.
Diverse planning processes within the production cycle are examined: from pre-production, through production, to post-production. Participants employ prior learning to use software applications to develop partnered presentations and digital resources that integrate image, sound and text as a basis for a critical analysis of the theory content of MST 114 - Production Planning.
The aim of this subject is to develop the ability to manage production processes - from concept development through production, to project completion.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to contribute as an effective collaborator in live event production processes from concept development through to project acquittals and completion
- be able to demonstrate mastery in the use of software applications used to communicate production agendas
- be able to demonstrate an understanding of production roles and their particular responsibilities, especially as these relate live theatre and special events
- be able to articulate how people can choose specific work practices that enhance the likely success of team efforts
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Safe handling and use of studio lighting and audio equipment. - Planning for live theatre and special event productions. - Budgeting and scheduling. - Audience research and product marketing. - Group communication. - Use of relevant integrated software and web design applications for internal and external communication initiatives.
