Abstract:
The subject enables students to study particular contemporary issues of their choice in order to understand more deeply the effects of technological, social, political, educational, ideological and other factors on current nursing practice in an international context.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
* be able to demonstrate an understanding of international nursing practice issues
* be able to identify and discuss current issues and challenges to the international nursing community
* be able to develop research literature skills in the study of selected areas in more depth
* be able to demonstrate skills in selecting and critiquing a topical issue in international nursing and/or health care
* be able to conduct an extensive literature review of a selected topic
* be able to develop an annotated bibliography from a literature search
* be able to prepare a manuscript adhering to academic conventions
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
* current issues in the international nursing profession including social and political discussions on future directions for the nursing profession * nursing regulatory authorities * nursing leadership * nursing research * nursing education * ethical issues * nurse practitioner and advanced practice role * quality customer service and patient safety
