NRS411 Nursing Honours Research Project/Dissertation (48)

Abstract:
This subject enables full-time students to undertake an honours research project over two (2) consecutive sessions, and aims to provide an opportunity for students to plan and implement a research project related to nursing which results in the production of a dissertation. Students will demonstrate their understanding of research by developing skills necessary to conduct a research study under supervision. The project topic and structure will vary according to the student's area of interest and will make a contribution to nursing's body of knowledge. Throughout this subject regular planned consultations between student and supervisor will occur.

Restricted to students in the Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) course who are enrolled full-time.

# Demonstrate development and application of research skills and techniques utilised within their chosen field of study;
# Perform data collection and data analysis relevant to the research proposal;
# Contribute to discussions about the research process with professional colleagues;
# Demonstrate the requirements of academic writing and reporting of research;
# Develop skills in the rigorous appraisal and presentation of analysis;
# Produce a dissertation of the prescribed length and format which demonstrates proficiency in the execution of the study and the ability to effectively communicate results and conclusions.

Individual research project pre-approved by a supervisor and appropriate to pre-requisite subjects completed by the student.
