OCC330 Occupational Therapy Workplace Learning 1 (Honours) (12)
CSU Discipline Area: Allied Health (ALHEA)
Duration: One session
Abstract:
In this subject, students complete one supervised occupational therapy workplace learning experience. The workplace learning experience will last for seven weeks (which is approximately 240 hours on placement). The workplace learning experience provides students with the opportunity to manage their own caseload and to practise and consolidate their assessment, intervention, and evaluation skills. Students will also develop and consolidate critical evaluation and reflective practice skills. This placement focuses on working with individuals who experience occupational dysfunction and/or may focus on planning or implementing an occupation-focused project. Students are required to pass this placement and related assessment items to pass this subject.
Honours students are allowed to have the equivalent of a half-day a week away from placement to concentrate on their Honours study. Honours students are not obliged to take this half-day. It is the responsibility of the Workplace Learning Coordinator and Administrator to inform the relevant placement supervisor of this option for Honours students. It is the responsibility of the student to negotiate with his/her supervisor when it would be most convenient to take the equivalent of a half-day per week.
This subject provides honours students with their first long workplace learning experience and comes after students have studied and passed the preceding theoretical subjects.
