OCC410 Occupational Therapy Workplace Learning 3 (32)
CSU Discipline Area: Allied Health (ALHEA)
Duration: One session
Abstract:
In this subject, students are expected to complete either two seven-week practicums or one thirteen-week practicum. Students will be supervised by an experienced occupational therapist, or other relevant staff member if the student is engaged in a role emerging or project practicum. Each seven-week practicum will be approximately 262.5 hours in duration (which is a total of 525 hours when two seven-week practicums have been completed). A thirteen-week practicum will be approximately 487.5 hours in duration. Students will be expected to be working as an entry-level occupational therapist by the end of this subject and become involved in management tasks related to their practice setting. Students will be required to demonstrate their ability to practise reflectively, to critically evaluate their practice, and to critically reflect on their learning during the subject. One of the seven-week placements may be a role-emerging or project placement for those students who have not completed a project placement during their third year (usually in OCC320 and OCC321 or OCC330 and OCC331). Any student who has not completed a project placement in OCC320/321 or OCC330/331 will usually be excluded from doing a 13-week placement as they will be required to a seven-week project placement in fourth year.
