OCC412 Occupational Therapy Workplace Learning 3 (Honours) (24)
CSU Discipline Area: Allied Health (ALHEA)
Duration: One session
Abstract:
In this subject, students are expected to complete either two seven-week practicums or one thirteen-week practicum. Students will be supervised by an experienced occupational therapist, or other relevant staff member, if the student is engaged in a role-emerging or project practicum. Each seven-week practicum will be approximately 240 hours in duration (which is a total of 480 hours when two seven-week practicums have been completed). A thirteen-week practicum will be approximately 445 hours in duration. Students will be expected to be working as an entry-level occupational therapist by the end of this subject and become involved in management tasks related to their practice setting. Students will be required to demonstrate their ability to practise reflectively, to critically evaluate their practise, and to critically reflect on their learning during the course. One of the seven-week placements may be a role-emerging or project placement for those students who have not completed a project placement in OCC330 or OCC331. Any student who has not completed a project placement in OCC330 or OCC331 will usually be excluded from doing a 13-week placement as they will be required to complete a seven-week project placement in fourth year. Honours students will be entitled to have half a day off per week, to work on their honours project during placement.
