Abstract:
This subject covers imaging theories and techniques to enable students to produce a digital portfolio of photographic works in various mediums. Major topics are covered with specific reference to professional photographic practice, and include web based image galleries and image banks, as well as output to video and interactive media.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to show creative and innovative solutions to the design and production of a digital portfolio in a variety of mediums
- be able to have a strong working knowledge of the principal theories and techniques in outputting digital imagery to web, video and interactive media
- be able to demonstrate these theories and techniques with specific reference to photographic practice
- be able to demonstrate appropriate skills in the editing and preparation of their own imagery for presentation in a digital image library
- be aware of current and evolving methods of digital photo-image presentation and dissemination of images
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Concepts and technologies underpinning the digital portfolio - Creating a web based image gallery and screen-based exhibition - The creative incorporation of still photographs in a video production - Authoring interactive media such as DVD for digital image presentation - Web based communities for sharing still photographic imagery and concepts - Preparing, depositing and retrieving photographic images using image banks - Changing methodologies for the presentation of photographic imagery in current and evolving digital media
