Abstract:
Students will develop a critical understanding of the changing context of podiatric practice. The subject presents critical issues which reflect the ongoing changes in the practice and research of podiatry. Using guided and self-directed readings from a variety of disciplines students will be encouraged to develop opinions and knowledge on issues relating to contemporary development
There are three separate modules
Module One:The impact of evidence based practice on the practice of podiatry
Module Two: Servicing special needs within the community.
Module Three: Future directions in podiatric practice and allied health care.

Bachelor of Podiatry (Honours).
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
be able to demonstrate how foot health is influenced by political, educational and financial aspects;
be able to describe foot health needs of marginalised groups and discuss strategies to improve the foot health of these groups;
and be able to critically evaluate the role of research and evidence-based practice in podiatric practice.
