Abstract:
This subject introduces and considers the technological principles and features of advanced diagnostic imaging instruments used in Medical Imaging. It considers the design, construction, operation and quality assurance of these instruments incorporating appropriate calculation and assessment methods

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
explain and assess the basic principles, design and practical working conditions of a range of instruments and modes covered in this subject;
appraise the relative performance of an instrument via practical capabilities, specifications and relevant descriptions used for each instrument;
understand and utilise relevant regulations, guidelines and appropriate safe working practices for each instrument through a knowledge of relevant requirements;
understand the basic quality assurance program for each type of instrument covered in this subject;
appraise relevant technical reports and journal papers in regard to each type of instrument.
