REC400 Interpretive Guiding Management in Ecotourism (8)

Abstract:
This subject deals with the theory, practice and management of guiding for ecotourism, adventure tourism and related recreation activities that occur in national parks, cultural sites and other recreation/protected areas and commercial operations. Personal heritage and environmental interpretation techniques and interpersonal communication are the main foci of the subject.

Enrolment restrictions:
This subject is only available to students enrolled in Postgraduate courses.
Students who have completed REC301 or REC302 cannot enrol in REC400 .
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
be able to:
• demonstrate their theoretical and practical knowledge and experience to develop their interpretive skills as a guide
• demonstrate their knowledge and understanding in planning, implementation and evaluation of developing a tour
• describe and appreciate the diverse roles and qualities of an interpretive guide
• demonstrate their knowledge and understanding in planning, implementation and evaluation of guided interpretive programs and
• demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of accreditation and licensing issues.
