Abstract:

This subject introduces students to sociology and how a sociological approach can be applied to provide a deeper understanding of current issues relating to health, illness and health care. Through the analysis of theory and research, students will engage with the various ways in which the social organisation of society shapes health care delivery and institutions, patterns of illness and health, and individual experiences of ill health.
