Abstract:

This subject fosters an in-depth understanding of sociological theory to enable critical awareness of problems and issues confronting contemporary society. By reading, analyzing and assessing the arguments, merits and drawbacks of original social theory texts, students will develop and enhance their capacity for theoretical analysis through practice.

- Understanding and comparison of major and minor sociological theoretical paradigms - In-depth focus and analysis of a contemporary theoretical issue in sociology - Problems and issues confronting sociological theorists - Critical analysis of the work of selected theorists - The relationship between theory and research
