Abstract:
This subject provides students with generic health clinical experiences in a range of settings, and with a range of client types and disorders. It also provides students with beginning level speech and hearing clinical experiences, under the direct supervision of clinical educators. It involves peer group learning experiences, case studies, and tutorials directed towards clinical and professional skill development.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- understand the health care system;
- have knowledge of the range of settings in which clients with communication or swallowing disorders may present;
- have further developed their skills of reflection, evaluation, observation and clinical reasoning;
- have begun to integrate theory and practice in relation to communication;
