Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
Across the human lifespan, be able to:
- Apply physiology to function with relation to the swallowing mechanism;
- Apply culturally and socially appropriate diagnostic processes and practices;
- Practically distinguish between the major categories of swallowing dysfunction;
- Apply culturally and socially appropriate intervention plans and approaches.
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
Normal swallowing function, Dysphagia and its relationships to Voice disorders, Laryngectomy, Dysarthria, Dyspraxia, Dysphasia
