Abstract:
The aim of this subject is to provide TAFE/VET students entering the University with background and skills required for successful study. It is recognised that the transition to this new study environment requires an understanding of the key differences in systems and expectations so that students can begin their university studies with confidence. It designed for students from the Australian VET sector and is delivered via a face-to-face workshop.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- understand the differences between VET and University
- understand the differences in academic expectations and cultures between VET and HE
- understand and begin to develop generic academic literacy skills
- read, clarify and organise information in order to communicate their understanding of readings
- begin to develop and apply critical thinking skills
- find, extract, interpret and apply information to their learning from a broad range of sources and demonstrate practical skills in negotiating the online environment
- navigate the CSU online learning environment
