STA001 Bridging Into Statistics (2)

CSU Discipline Area: Mathematics and Statistics (MASTA)

Duration: One session

Abstract:

This is a two day residential school for any student (internal and distance education) undertaking a statistical subject. It is intended to provide students with the necessary skills to successfully attempt subjects such as Business Statistics (QBM117), Applied Statistics (STA117) and Scientific Statistics (STA201). Topics include calculator skills, basic algebra, introductory statistics, sigma notation, inequalities, introductory probability, and computer skills.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

Be able to use a calculator confidently and correctly;
Understand and work with algebraic expressions;
Understand concepts of basic probability;
Be able to access computer packages appropriate to their course;
Be able to utilise services available at Charles Sturt University;
develop support networks.
