Abstract:
Students will explore the praxis of Christian ministry, both lay and ordained, through theological reflection upon leadership and spirituality. The curriculum is designed to build on the student's prior learning and to support their engagement with learning environments through the intentional integration and sequencing of knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Students will receive regular formative evaluation of their work throughout the study of this subject to aid in their learning.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the principles and practices of Christian Ministry (lay and ordained) including an understanding of models of leadership and spirituality appropriate to Christian ministry
- demonstrate the ability to reflect critically on aspects of their supervised ministry placement as well as their own day to day ministry
- demonstrate a critical understanding of the range of ministries practiced by the church in its ministries of pastoral care, Christian education, social justice, worship and evangelism
- demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the partnership between lay and ordained in ministry, including an understanding of the ethics of ministry
- be able to discuss and analyse critically new models of ministry available to the Christian church in a changing world
- be able to demonstrate self-guided learning, including research, writing and communication skills

Residential School
This subject contains a optional 2 day residential school.
The residential school for this subject provides an orientation to the subject matter, methodology, library resources, and research tools pertaining to the study of Christian Ministry.
Activities include lectures, library orientation and group work.
